About the Project
Welcome to the pages of the Newsletter of the Joint Programme "HIV/STI Prevention among the personnel of the Uniformed Services in Ukraine". Project's objective The Project's objective is to significantly reduce incidences of HIV/STI and form safe behavior among the personnel of the uniformed services in Ukraine. The Project aims to support the development of effective mechanisms for comprehensive HIV/STI prevention measures in the uniformed services of Ukraine. The Project is a subcomponent of the UN Country Program Action Plan for Ukraine for 2006-2010. Also, the Project contributes to the "National Programme on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care for people living with HIV in 2004-2008". European Union is the donor of the Project granting 2,5 millions Euros for the implementation of the Project activities from it's official launch in November 2005 untill April 2008.
The Project is implemented jointly by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), on the one hand, and: - Ministry of Defence of Ukraine,
- Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine,
- Main Department of the Internal Forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine,
- State Border Guard Service of Ukraine,
on the other hand.

UNDP supports release of two books for military and law-enforcement agencies

02-07-2008 A long-awaited presentation of two books entitled "Strategic planning and policy of formation of the commitment to healthy lifestyle among uniformed personnel" (designed for the leadership of the military command, police administration, and also for the military academic faculty of educational facilities of the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Internal Affaires, and State Border Guard Service of Ukraine) and "Formation of leadership and commitment to healthy lifestyle among uniformed services in Ukraine" (designed for the system of higher education institutions of the partner-ministries) took place at the press-center of the information agency "Ukrainian News" on June 24, 2008.

Regional training workshops on HIV/STI prevention within the framework of the EU-funded Joint UNFPA/UNDP Programme

01-06-2007On May 16-25, 2007, in the framework of the UNDP/UNFPA Joint Programme "HIV/STI Prevention in the Uniformed Services of Ukraine", UNFPA organized 4 regional workshops on HIV/STI prevention and formation of safe behavior among the uniformed personnel for educators of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Defense, and Internal Forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Procurement of educational equipment

01-06-2007In May 2007, in the framework of the UNDP/UNFPA Joint Programme "HIV/STI Prevention in the Uniformed Services of Ukraine", UNFPA provided national partners (Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Interior Forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and State Border Guards Service) with presentational equipment (laptops and multimedia projectors) to be used for educational purposes during regional training workshops organized under the Joint Programme.
